A sublime party

   In our previous comments that you probably have seen in Todotrial.com we did announce that Montesa-da third edition would be a noticeable success, the fact is that we were almost short in our predictions.

   The true is that the starting idea of Pim Terricabras and Joan Cañellas, whom together with the people of Moto Club Tona share the responsibility of the whole "storm" did show out being correct and still more with the slight change towards an increasingly joifull and generous 2003 meeting.

   The Montesa-da has become an unavoidable date to all the Montesa fonds. As all you know, is really difficult to ride a race side by side with the best trials riders in the world.

   If we add to that the sweet season experienced by Montesa-Honda with the tree best riders in the 2003 World Trial Championship season, as well as the seven world titles for Dougie Lampkin there is no much left to be said.

   As we said the fascination of Montesa besides the excellent organization lies in the undoubted informal caracter that have given as from the deputies and the official team Montesa HRC. And we have to mention the contribution of the riders with their open mind, kindness and willingness making easy the way to the hundreds of fans to obtain a dedicated photo, autograph or t-shirt.

   On this, Lampkin, Cobos and Amos did succeed very well last year, but on this edition the personal attendance of all the top riders of the Montesa trials team got the summit. One week ago they were in Tona, Dougie, Fujigas and Freixa willing to enjoy together with David Cobos who did not want to loose opportunity of being backed by all his fans. The only one that could not be present at the Tona´s Codina Balneary was Amos, who had to assist to a family wedding.

   Besides all tops of 2003 season, a great amount of known faces, ex-riders of the Esplugues firm were present too. Thus we could see the so many times Spain Enduro Champion Carles Mas, who did not avoid showing how fast still can run today in a Montesa Enduro H6. Close to him a large list of ex-Montesa riders, technitians and managers whom did not doubt to be present on saturday morning with an excellent weather to enjoy the party.

   As always the main issue on the Montesa-da was the trial, with seven sections and two laps. For this ocasion all the competitiveness was out of the race and fouls where not posted at all.

   There was a great assistance of viewers particulary in the starting sections and the great majority did step to the different sections following closely the moves of Lampkin and company whom did perform a very enjoyable circuit, creating courses of their own wich drived to spectacular jumps.

   Beside the tops, the allmost hundred Montesa Cota bikes that share the trial did enjoy it very much as every section had different courses and handicaps wich each rider did choose at his choice without ant limitations. There was no problem also to pass the section twice or pass by any section, as we said score was not considered for any purpose, there were no winners or loosers.

   The spirit of Montesa-da is a yearly meeting of all Montesa fans, that wish to be present in a pretty morning at Tona town, and this has been reinforced as well by the Montesaweb with new implemented ideas this year.

      Also, and following previous years line, we saw an exhibition of classic and emblematic models of Montesa, as the first motocros bikes (La Cross, Cappra, etc), the four stroke scooter, Cota 247 MKI,... were shown in the stand situated in the very center of Codina Balneary garden.

   Concerning the Impala again a considerable amount of the ever lasting allroad of Montesa were present who after a time in front of the stands and joining the offered breakfast did start as usual a long and beautifull run by the sorrounding roads of Tona with good firm, twisted courses and enjoying the beautifull countryside.

   There were also oportunities for the impetuos ones, whom could explore the power of Cappra and Enduro bikes within a circuit plotted side by side of section number 1, the place was crowded. Without any doubt the sound of the Cappra VR or VB has not being forgotten for those veterans which faces were denounccing the extreme pleasure watching the bikes of their dreams.

   We did already mention the presence of the Spain Enduro ex-champion, Carles Mas who so many times has given the victory to Montesa with the Enduro H6 and H7. In Tona Mas got fullup running endless amount of laps to the circuit plotted in the allground timewatched style and he did prove that has not forgotten at all make move a Montesa H.

   To summarize, the performance of the Montesa 3rd. edition can not yield better for the organizers, to surpass the success of last year was not easy keeping the same format for each event taking place. It has being a new success in a happy period for Montesa-Honda.

   We watch ahead to see the next meeting.

   And as we think that is rather dificcult to explain you the real image of the Montesa-da due to the great amount of different anecdocts and good times that can be experienced we believe that the best way is try to illustrate it with a significant handful of photos. Please enjoy it.
